Current Collaborators

CALVIN AHAM brings with him a natural gift for movement and a wealth of knowledge regarding environmental philosophy and policy to this work. A recent graduate of Saint Michael’s College in Vermont with a B.A in Economics and Environmental Studies, he has conducted research into climate change in Vietnam, Morocco and Bolivia. During his time abroad he focused on the constantly changing relationship between humans and their perception of the natural world.

JACK B. DU currently works as an Interactive Media Arts Associate Fellow at New York University Shanghai, from where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and Interactive Media Arts. Du rediscovered his passion for drawing while studying in New York, and later, he studied Visual Arts in Abu Dhabi. For his capstone project,  Du built Minus E, a robot that creates large-scale drawings, whose works won the 5th place in the 2017 Robot Art Competition. The development of Minus E made Du realize his deep interest in the creation of traditional visual art with aid of modern technology like computer vision and robotics. His work often explores the human visual perception of pixelated visual art, and has been presented in various exhibitions and expos both in Shanghai and in Abu Dhabi. Website: jackbdu.com

JESSICA GOMULA is a nationally acclaimed new media artist with a prolific exhibition record. Gomula-Kruzic’s video and interactive media works have been showcased internationally at Eastern Bloc, Montreal, Canada; Ionion Center for the Arts and Culture, Kefalonia Greece; OZU, Monteleone Sabino, outside Rome, Italy; POP Revolution Festival, Lecce, Italy; CST Institute for Computer Music and Sound Technology, Zurich; MuseumsQuartier Wien, Vienna, Austria; Institut Intermédií, Prague, Czech republic.  Website: http://www.jgomula.com/

ALLEN HAHN recently designed and co-directed Breath | Light | Stone, a dance for camera work which received awards for Cinematography, Sound Design and Ensemble Performance, Directing and Editing at the 2018 Utah Dance Film Festival in a field of entries from 12 countries. Additionally, Allen has designed the lighting for productions at New York City Opera, Santa Fe Opera, Glimmerglass, the Lincoln Center Festival and the Spoleto USA Festival, and internationally for opera companies and festivals in Australia, South Korea, France, Germany, The Netherlands, Spain, and the UK. He has designed world premiere operas at Juilliard and at the Royal Danish Opera. He served as Lighting Design Curator for the US delegation to the 2011 Prague Quadrennial Exhibition of Stage Design, and his work from several productions was selected for the 2007 Quadrennial. He has worked with artist Tony Oursler on installations at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and ARoS Kunstmuseum in Denmark. He is a founding member of The Builders Association, a NY-based cross-media theater company. He is an Associate Professor at Indiana University where he runs the MFA program in Lighting Design for theater and dance. JOSHUA LACOURSE is a recent Saint Michael’s College theater graduate. He has previously trained and performed as part of The Troublemakers Ensemble Theater Training and Fall Festival of Shakespeare. A recent directoral work, Tearmann was a collaborative and full-evening movement piece seeking to form deep connections in the absence of speech. Tearmann strove to challenge the perceptions of performers, audience members, and creators alike, while inviting us all to reconsider how we observe, conceptualize and respond to the world around us. Joshua aspires to create and be a part of performances that strive to bridge widening gaps between individuals and remind us of our shared human identity.
